STEINERT - A Pioneer Then, a Technological Leader Now

We are a company with a rich tradition and a history of innovation. We are active in all sectors of raw materials recovery and production, in the metal recycling industry, refuse processing and in mining. Established in Cologne as a family company in 1889, STEINERT has around 150 employees today and is worldwide - in the form of subsidiaries, joint ventures, licensees or sales co-operation, in USA, Australia, Brazil, Japan, China  and India.

Steinert first gained promenience in the application of magnets and magnet technology. It all started with electrical coils, which were used in lifting magnets and magnetic separators. Innovative coils of anodised aluminium foil dramatically boosted the efficiency of these devices. Shortly thereafter, the STEINERT electromagnetic shredder drums — now known worldwide — came into use. The most important innovations are the eccentric pole system in the Non-Ferrous Metals Separator — used exclusively by STEINERT, the X-Ray Sorting System XSS, the Induction Sorting System ISS® — introduced in 2001 — and the Colour Sorting System FSS. From its earliest beginnings, STEINERT has been a pioneer of markets served and has consistently pursued technological advances — with worldwide success. Today, STEINERT is the only manufacturer of magnet separators worldwide to have continued development beyond its classic areas of application and to have permanently anchored sensor-based sorting as a new technology at the heart of its product development.
